Toilets & Composting
We use composting toilets on our site. The majority of our pitches have their own dedicated
composting toilet. Composting toilets are a versatile, practical and sustainable solution, ideal
for wild camping environments. Please don’t put anything into the composting toilet unless you
have eaten it first (other than toilet paper). To aid the composting process, we encourage you to
sprinkle cold ash from your fire over your waste. There should be an ash bucket to hand for this
purpose.

Showers
Our showers are wild camping and designed to be used with warm or cold water. They can be
manually tilted for use. If you’d like a warm shower, we encourage you to heat water on your
firepit and fill the shower container with a mixture of cold and warm water to your preferred
temperature. A kettle is provided at each pitch which can help with this.

Water Supply

There are three standpipes onsite providing water. These are marked on the site plan. For all
pitches, we do not provide water containers so please bring your own. The water supply is from
a local bore hole so we advise visitors to boil water before drinking.

Firewood & Cooking

There is now a supply of logs included in the pitch price and these will be available at your pitch
on arrival. This will be topped up each day during your stay. We no longer provide additional
supplies other than the daily top-up of logs. If you think you are likely to consume a large
volume of logs you may wish to consider bringing some with you. Each firepit is equipped with a
grill for cooking, but we do not provide leather gloves, BBQ tools, or wood-cutting equipment so
please bring what you think you will need.

Fires: Anyone lighting a fire is fully responsible for its safety and management. We do not allow

the use of disposable BBQ on this campsite. The provided firepit should be more than
adequate for you to cook outdoors.

Access to the Campsite

The campsite is accessed via a woodland tracks. We make improvement to the track at the start
of each season. However, it is a forest route with a number of potholes, making it unsuitable for
low-clearance vehicles (e.g., certain sports cars). Please keep this in mind when planning your
trip.

Safety in Southover Woods

Southover Woods is a wild and natural environment, home to badgers and fox dens, shake
holes, fallen branches, and natural water features like large puddles and ponds. While this
makes the landscape beautiful and exciting, it also comes with inherent risk.
By booking a pitch at Southover Woods, you accept full responsibility for your own safety and
the safety of your party. Enjoy the wild beauty of the woods, but please explore with care!
Shake/Sink Holes: These occur throughout the woods, making the terrain unpredictable.
In high winds, branches can fall, posing a risk. If severe weather is forecast, we reserve the right
to close the site (please also see our terms and conditions).
Wildlife & Ticks: Deer are common in the early season (April - June), and where there are deer,
ticks may also be present, especially in long grass. For guidance on tick prevention and removal,
please refer to Public Health England’s advice.

Vehicle-Free Policy

To preserve the natural environment, no vehicles are allowed within Southover Woods. Please
park in our designated parking area and use the provided wheelbarrows to transport your
belongings to your pitch.

These can be arranged on a case-by-case basis, please contact us in advance to discuss your
needs.
