We usually have a campsite ranger onsite. If you need any help or assistance you can call the Ranger (
From April 2026, we will be providing camp fire logs as part of your pitch price. This means you will have logs available on your pitch when you arrive. These will be topped up during your stay by the Ranger. We believe this will be adequate for your needs. We are unable to supply any additional logs. If you think you will need additional logs, you are free to bring your own supply of logs, or purchase them locally if required. Please note that disposable BBQ are not allowed on this campsite!
We use composting toilets on our site. The majority of our pitches have their own dedicated composting toilet. Composting toilets are a versatile, practical and sustainable solution, ideal for wild camping environments. Please don’t put anything into the composting toilet unless you have eaten it first (other than toilet paper). To aid the composting process, we encourage you to sprinkle cold ash from your fire over your waste. There should be an ash bucket on your pitch for this purpose.
Our showers are wild camping and designed to be used with warm or cold water. They can be manually tilted for use. If you’d like a warm shower, we encourage you to heat water on your firepit and fill the shower container with a mixture of cold and warm water to your preferred temperature. A kettle is provided at each pitch which can help with this.
There are three standpipes providing water (see the site map for their location). The water is supplied from a local bore hole. We recommend that the water is boiled, then cooled before you drink it. Each pitch has a large kettle for boiling water but we do not provide water containers for transporting water. Please bring your own containers if you think you will need one.
The campsite is accessed via a woodland track. This is a forest route with potholes, making it unsuitable for low-clearance vehicles (e.g., certain sports cars). Please keep this in mind when planning your trip.
Southover Woods is a wild and natural environment, home to badgers and fox dens, shake holes, fallen branches, and natural water features like puddles and ponds. While this makes the landscape beautiful and exciting, it also comes with inherent risks.
Shake/Sink Holes: These occur throughout the woods, making the terrain unpredictable.
Falling Branches: In high winds, branches can fall, posing a risk. If severe weather is forecast, we reserve the right to close the site.
Fires: Anyone lighting a fire is fully responsible for its safety and management.
Wildlife & Ticks: Deer are common in early seasons, and where there are deer, ticks may also be present, especially in long grass. For guidance on tick prevention and removal, please refer to Public Health England’s advice.
Keep music and noise levels low throughout the day. We ask that you do not play loud music or make excessive noise after 9pm please.
